Zum ersten Mal findet im November 2016 die ESIB - European Summit of Industrial Biotechnolgy in Graz statt.

Special Session II “One egg is like another? – Food profiling using quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometer technologies”

High value food products with defined origin and quality have increased substantially over recent years. To maintain a maximum level of quality and security for such products rigorous controls are necessary, which at current state are very expensive and still will not fully guarantee prevention of fraud. Food profiling using quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometer technologies provides accurate chemo metric fingerprinting and offers a powerful tool to create control mechanisms which are capable of answering important questions regarding geographical origin, type, breed and quality of high value products.
Within a forty-minute talk the concept of food profiling using new quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry will be explained. An overview of applications will show the necessity of an effective, technological control mechanism which will open a new field of explaining food quality. Examples for already existing applications and successful studies will be given as well as an explanation of the technology itself and the methodological approach of our new project.
